• LONGACRE COMPANY ADDS FIRE PROTECTION DIVISION |

Longacre Electrical Service Inc., a multi-service company and construction based business headquartered in Bally, Berks County, since 1922, recently announced 'the creation of a new division - Longacre Fire Protection Services, Inc. The new company will design and install commercial and residential sprinkler systems and provide fire sprinkler system inspections, as well as back flow prevention certification.
Mr. Robert (Bob) Johnson, with over 26 years in the Fire Protection industry, will manage this new company. Bob is NICET Level ill certified and has been an installer, estimator, designer, project manager, field superintendent, and service manager. He can be reached at 610.845.2261.

Their .experience includes a wide spectrum of interests including: Radiant Heating, Steam Heating and Processing, Hydronic Systems, Chillers, Process Piping, and Gas Piping with installations, in hospitals, nursing homes, retirement centers, manufacturing facilities, and warehouses along with general plumbing service and sales to area home owners.

Longacre Electrical Service started out in 1922, when Arland E. Longacre began doing electrical work in a shed on the family farm near Bally. The company has been providing electrical wiring for homes and businesses ever since. In the 1930s, Longacre opened a store in. Bally, where the Main Street Pub is located, and began selling appliances. Over the years, Longacre has expanded in plumbing and HV AC construction for the commercial and industrial markets. In 1945, the company added television sets to their services, and moved to their current location, the former National Bank of Bally building, in 1947.
In 1969, Arland E. Longacre passed away, and his son, John Arland "Jiggs" Longacre became president. The company quadrupled its size under the guidance and leadership of Jiggs, who created company divisions (Plumbing, Electrical, ACI Heating, among others). He also formulated a strategy of acquisition, purchasing Schiffert Plumbing in Palm prior to his untimely passing in 1983. Jiggs' sons Steve and Jeff took over the reigns at that point, and continued the precedent of aggressive growth and expansion set by their father. The company purchased Albert Haas Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and Keh’s Plumbing and Heating, both in 1993.
By adding Fire Protection to its existing services, Longacre is now able to provide the complete mechanical package to construction projects.
